My First Aid & CPR Experience at Flex Point Academy: Way Better Than I Expected!

I’ll be honest—I always seem to put off renewing my First Aid & CPR certification until the very last minute. I work in a field where it’s required, but every time it’s time to renew, I dread it.

Why? Because of past training, I cringe about renewing my first aid. Previous places were long and tedious, and classes were overwhelming with medical jargon and endless lectures.

But when I finally signed up at Flex Point Academy, I realized how quick, engaging, and fun the experience could be.

A Flexible & Convenient Course Structure

Unlike other courses I’ve taken in the past, Flex Point Academy breaks up the training into two parts, making it so much easier to complete:

Step 1: Online Theory – 8 Hours (At My Own Pace!)
Step 2: In-Person Training – 6 Hours (Hands-On & Fun!)

This structure made the process way more manageable and flexible. I could complete the online portion whenever it fits into my schedule. Then I scheduled my in-person session for a Saturday morning—which was super convenient because when you have children, your week is hectic.

Flex Point Academy offers multiple certification levels to fit different needs, emergency level C, or standard BLS. Let them know how they can help you find the proper training you're looking for.

Step 1: The Online Theory Portion (8 Hours at My Own Pace!)

The online theory portion covered everything I needed to know before the hands-on training:

✔ How to recognize emergencies like cardiac arrest, choking, and strokes
✔ CPR basics for adults, children, and infants
✔ AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training and how easy it is to use
✔ First aid fundamentals, including treating burns, wounds, fractures, and allergic reactions

I could start and stop whenever I wanted, which made it easy to fit into my schedule. After finishing, I received a certificate of completion, which I printed and brought to my in-person training session.

Step 2: In-Person Training (6 Hours of Hands-On Practice!)

After completing the online portion, I scheduled my in-person session at Flex Point Academy. Classes are in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays, which was perfect for me.

One of the things that immediately stood out was the small class size. It was a game-changer! Instead of sitting in a massive room with dozens of people, our instructor, Mohammed, ensured everyone got personal attention.

Here's what we learned in-person:

✔CPR for Adults, Children, & Infants – Hands-on chest compressions and rescue breaths on          mannikins
✔Using an AED – Following its voice commands to deliver a safe shock
✔Choking Response – How to help a choking adult, child, or infant
✔First Aid Basics – How to bandage wounds, control bleeding, treat burns, and stabilize             fractures
✔Emergency Scene Management – Learning how to assess an emergency and call for help

The session was about hands-on practice because we had already covered the theory online. Mohammed made it so interactive that the time flew by, and I enjoyed the training.

Not Boring at All! (Seriously!)

One of the main reasons I always put off renewing my First Aid & CPR certification is because I find it boring. However, Flex Point Academy completely changed my experience.

✔ Small classes meant I got more hands-on time and personal guidance
✔ The instructors were fun and engaging and made learning enjoyable
✔ Instead of just sitting through lectures, we were constantly moving and practicing

By the end of the session, I felt 100% confident in my skills—and the best part? I received my First Aid & CPR license right after finishing the course! It’s valid for three years, so I won’t have to worry about it again for a while.
